The process of creating this image was very meditative for us. The original idea was to illuminate the bud with light reflected from the water’s surface. The effect is subtle enough to organically integrate into the overall soft, meditative ambiance of the work.
Behind the scenes.
The idea
From the very beginning, we have been inspired by elements such as water, air, and sun. The sensations they evoke serve as one of the cornerstones for our creative brainstormings. In particular, water has played a significant role from our early works. This is actually what the word "mmiri" stands for.
Making
Working with water is always a very special experience for us. No matter how much we try to pre-visualise the final result, there is always an element of unpredictability. A fortunate reflection captured in the water can fundamentally influence the final feel and look of the entire work. This is a very intriguing addition to our otherwise very carefully planned, methodical workflow.
Materials.
Paper.
For paper-based prints, we use our favorite paper from the most renowned German manufacturer: Hanemühe Photo Rag. This robust paper features a pronounced texture while still reproducing even the finest details.
Frame.
We use only high-quality, German-made frames in a neutral wooden tone.
Aluminium.
Aluminium is our preferred material for its high-quality reproduction, attractive aesthetics, and practicality. Best of all, no frame is needed—everything for mounting is included, resulting in an elegant, minimalist solution.
