Abstract vase.

Abstract, 2024

We created this image by trying to combine two of our distinct series: our more classic floral work and our minimalist abstract pieces. This was our first experiment blending these styles, and it was sparked by an earlier piece called “Yellow Vase”.

Painting covers a huge range of styles, which can be fundamentally different in their methods and thinking. Photography certainly provides many creative opportunities, but it doesn’t quite offer the same range of drastically different visual aesthetics that painting does. While comparing them directly might not make perfect sense, we sometimes find it intriguing to imagine what a photographic version of a specific painting style could look like. This particular piece, for instance, was inspired by the minimalist shapes characteristic of Cubism.

Behind the scenes.

The idea

Early in our creative process, we dedicated most of our time to generating new ideas. It was a demanding schedule because we needed several distinct concepts for every weekly photoshoot.

Sketch 27

As our collection of finished work expanded, the process of searching for new ideas became less time-consuming. Firstly, we now have a reserve of ideas set aside for the future. Secondly, completed works often inspire the next ones. That's precisely how this piece came to be – influenced by both "Yellow Vase" and our abstract series.
