The entire concept of our abstract series is founded on the idea of portraying the interaction between subjects. In this particular case, there are two subjects. To delve into a deeper understanding of these works, consider the black paper as one person, the glowing paper as another person, and the white paper (if present) as something more extensive and colder. For example it could represent the broader society in certain situations. This interpretation serves as our perspective, though it is not meant to be the exclusive explanation.
Behind the scenes.
The idea
The technical approach for the series is based on brightly illuminating a piece of paper to create an interesting glow and contrasting it against black paper. While the concept is simple, it requires very precise lighting work, making the series technically challenging and rewarding to create.
Making
None of us are cooks, but in our imagination, building a new set feels much like preparing an exquisite meal – you invest significant time and creative energy into something fleeting. Each set construction is different, demanding unique solutions to bring the next idea to life. Afterwards, the set is gone, never to be seen again. Fortunately, the artwork itself remains.
Materials.
Paper.
For paper-based prints, we use our favorite paper from the most renowned German manufacturer: Hanemühe Photo Rag. This robust paper features a pronounced texture while still reproducing even the finest details.
Frame.
We use only high-quality, German-made frames in a neutral wooden tone.
Aluminium.
Aluminium is our preferred material for its high-quality reproduction, attractive aesthetics, and practicality. Best of all, no frame is needed—everything for mounting is included, resulting in an elegant, minimalist solution.
