A small, fragile flower trapped in a big, heavy vase. The last rays of the sun touch the gentle bud, while the rest of the scene sinks into cold shades of grey.
Behind the scenes.
The idea
This was our third work. From the beginning, the image was intended as an allegory for totalitarianism. The flower is lit from behind by the last rays of the sun, symbolizing vanishing freedom, while the cold, massive vase and block represent the burden of a totalitarian society.
Making
The image is perfectly centered. The only element that doesn't follow this rule is the sunlight falling from the bottom left corner of the frame. This emphasizes its different nature—its freedom from all the chains of society. While I have previously written about the "last rays," it is not necessarily clear whether this is a sunset or if it is dawn, with a new day already approaching.
Materials.
Paper.
For paper-based prints, we use our favorite paper from the most renowned German manufacturer: Hanemühe Photo Rag. This robust paper features a pronounced texture while still reproducing even the finest details.
Frame.
We use only high-quality, German-made frames in a neutral wooden tone.
Aluminium.
Aluminium is our preferred material for its high-quality reproduction, attractive aesthetics, and practicality. Best of all, no frame is needed—everything for mounting is included, resulting in an elegant, minimalist solution.
